Quick Start

Login to NaviGator Scenarios to access the scenarios that have been shared with you. You can find scenarios that you have access to on the My Scenarios page.

Use the Enter Scenario button to participate, and then select a chatbot in the scenario from the left-hand menu to begin a conversation.

Instructors

If you wish to create your own scenarios that you can share with your students, please submit a request so that we can add the appropriate permissions.

In courses, Scenarios might be used for creating assignments that ask students to roleplay, to get or provide feedback on their assignment prior to grading, to have a debate, or to have students explore one or more topics with generative AI.

FAQ

What is the purpose of NaviGator Scenarios?

  • NaviGator Scenarios allows instructors to create chatbots that they can ask students to interact with. A scenario can be used as an assignment in the course, and in the assignment students can chat with one or more chatbots. Students can be added to a scenario as participants, and when this is done the students can chat with any or all of the chatbots added to that scenario.

Are there limitations?

  • NaviGator Scenarios is not an LTI and will not integrate with Canvas.
  • Adding participants to a scenario does not notify them – you will need to do this as part of the assignment instructions, for example
  • Participants can only interact with one chatbot at a time

What are the editing options for scenarios?

  • Curators have the ability to edit only the scenarios they have created. Scenarios and chatbot editing can not be share between two people in curator roles (i.e. instructors and teaching assistants).
  • Curator have full permissions to edit scenario fields including the Class identifier, Class Title, Scenario, Name, and Scenario Description.
  • To become a curator so that you can create and edit your own scenarios, please submit a request.

How can I provide feedback to students?

  • Feedback related to scenarios and chatbots are not managed through the NaviGator Scenarios platform. It would be best for instructors to set up assignments in Canvas where they are able to manually grade and provide comments to students via the SpeedGrader.
